The Tournament

Every spring, Orange County programs load the buses before sunrise and spend the day driving to a tournament an hour and a half away. Battle on Imperial puts that same level of competition in Anaheim Hills — one site, one day, and a short drive home.
One Site, One Day
Every game is played on the Canyon High School campus. No satellite fields across town, no 20-minute shuttles between rounds — families park once and watch lacrosse all day.
A Real Field of Teams
Capped at 20 programs, split into Varsity and JV divisions so you are matched against teams your own level. We would rather turn a team away than pad a division with lopsided games.

- Cut the travel day in half. For most Orange County programs, Anaheim Hills is 15–40 minutes away instead of a freeway slog into Los Angeles County.
- Keep families in the stands. Parents, siblings, and alumni actually show up when the drive is short. Your sideline stays loud all day.
- Less time on the bus, more in the legs. Players arrive warm and rested rather than stiff after 90 minutes in traffic.

Each field runs an AI camera system that tracks play automatically for the full game — no operator, no dead angles, no "we lost the second half." Footage is uploaded after each game and made available to coaching staffs for review, scouting, and player development.

Meet the Team
Battle on Imperial is put on by Canyon lacrosse parents — people with kids on the field and a reason to get this right. Here is who to contact, and what to contact them about.
Lydie Gutfeld
Event Organizer
Lydie runs the tournament end to end — fields, schedule, officials, and the shape of the day. Years of running parks and recreation programs make her well suited to putting eighteen teams through three games apiece without the day coming apart. She has two daughters playing lacrosse.
Mike Labroad
Event Treasurer
Mike handles the money side. Come to him with anything financial — invoices, deposits, and the paperwork your district needs. Need a W-9 or an ACH form? He is the one to ask. He played lacrosse in high school and has a daughter playing now.

Baiju keeps the technology working — this site, the schedule, and the AI cameras. Ask Baiju if something on the site is broken, if your posted schedule does not look right, or if your game film has not shown up where you expect it. Baiju has a daughter playing lacrosse.

The remaining $750 is due 30 days before the first game. Rosters and schedules go out after that.
We invoice rather than charge a card at sign-up, because most school programs pay through a district purchase order. If a card is easier for your program, the invoice takes one.
Deposits, Refunds & Cancellation
Read this before you pay. By tournament day most of the entry fee is already spent — officials, athletic training, field preparation, and the camera systems are all committed in advance — which is what these timelines reflect.
If your team withdraws

If we cancel or shorten the tournament
- Cancelled before any games are played

- Stopped after one game
- 50% refund of the total entry fee.
- Stopped after two or more games
- No refund. At that point the day's costs have been incurred.
- Weather and safety. Games may be shortened, delayed, or moved to keep play safe. We will always try to get every team its three games before reducing the schedule.
- Missed deadlines. If a deposit or balance is not paid by its due date, we may release the spot to a team on the waitlist.
- Circumstances outside our control. Facility closure, public health orders, or other events that make the tournament impossible are handled under the cancellation terms above.
- Requesting a refund. Email info@battleonimperial.com with your school and the reason. Refunds go back the way they were paid, typically within 14 days of approval.
- Not a charitable donation. The entry fee is payment for participation in the tournament, not a tax-deductible contribution.

How many teams can play, and how do I get in?
The field is capped at 18 teams. Submit the form above and a coordinator will contact you with the entry packet. Spots are offered in the order requests are received, and a spot is confirmed once entry is complete.
Which teams are eligible?
Battle on Imperial is open to CIF Division 2 and Division 3 girls' programs. Both varsity and JV teams are welcome, and a program may enter more than one team.
If you are not sure where your program sits, ask before you submit — we would far rather sort it out now than after you have built a Saturday around it.
What does the $1,000 entry include?
One flat fee per team covering three guaranteed games, certified officials, an athletic trainer on site, AI camera coverage of every one of your games, film access for your coaching staff, and free parking for your families. There are no per-player charges and no separate film fee.
How and when do we pay?
A $250 deposit holds your spot, due within 14 days of the invoice we send once a coordinator confirms you. The $750 balance is due 30 days before the first game.

What is the refund policy?
Withdraw more than 60 days out and you get everything back. Between 30 and 60 days, everything except the deposit. Inside 30 days there is no refund unless we fill your spot from the waitlist. If we cancel before any games are played, you get a full refund including the deposit.

Where does the entry fee go?
Entry fees pay for running the tournament: field preparation and striping, certified officials, athletic training coverage, the AI camera systems and video hosting, insurance, permits, equipment, and event-day operations. The Canyon High School Lacrosse Booster Club is a volunteer parent organization — the event is run by volunteers, and the fee is set to cover what the day costs to put on.
Are three games actually guaranteed?
Yes, and the format guarantees it rather than promising it. Teams are drawn into round-robin pools and every team plays three games — no bracket to qualify for, no early exit, and nothing on your schedule that stops mattering. Pool standings decide the finish. The pool draw is published with the schedule once the field is set. Weather or safety cancellations are the only exception, and our make-up policy is in the entry packet.
How long are the games?
Two 20-minute running halves with a four-minute halftime — 44 minutes from first whistle to final horn. The clock runs throughout, and there are no team timeouts, so halftime is the only break in the game.
Games run on a 50-minute cadence, and all three fields run on one master clock. Every game in a slot starts and ends together, so a delay on one field cannot spread to the other two. The six minutes between the final horn and the next first whistle are there to clear the field, and that cushion resets at every slot rather than draining away across the day.
The horn is absolute. It sounds at the end of the slot however the game has gone. A team that takes the field late plays a shorter second half rather than pushing the schedule back, so be ready to go on time. Shake hands quickly, clear the field, and take post-game team talks somewhere off it. Warm up on the sideline rather than waiting for the field.
Pool games can end level. There is no overtime in pool play, and a tie is recorded as a tie. The full rule set, mercy rule and tiebreaker order are in the entry packet.
How are the standings decided?
Three points for a win, one for a tie, none for a loss. If two teams finish level on points, goal difference separates them, then goals scored.
Because each pool is a round robin, every game counts toward the table — there are no dead games at the end of the day. Live standings are on the standings page and update as results come in.
How does the game film work?
Every field has an AI camera that records the full game and tracks play automatically. Footage is uploaded through the day and shared with your coaching staff. You do not need to bring your own camera, tripod, or a parent volunteer to film.
When is the tournament?
Saturday, March 13, 2027 at Canyon High School. One day, start to finish — first whistle in the morning and the last game done by late afternoon, so there is no second day to plan around.

Is there a cost for spectators?
Admission and parking details will be published with the schedule. Parking is on campus, and the shopping center directly across South Imperial Highway has food, coffee, and a grocery store within walking distance.
Can we enter more than one team?
Programs entering multiple teams are welcome — note it on the form and a coordinator will work through scheduling with you. Because the field is capped at 20, multi-team entries are confirmed based on remaining space.
